Raul Fernandez Downplays Title Contender Status After British GP Win
Raul Fernandez, a rider for Trackhouse, has expressed doubts about his status as a title contender for the 2026 MotoGP season, even after achieving a significant victory at the British Grand Prix.
Fernandez has recently shown impressive performance, including sprint wins at Mugello and Assen, and his first grand prix win of 2026 at Silverstone. These achievements have placed him sixth in the riders' standings, 56 points behind Jorge Martin, with ten races remaining. He has also secured a two-year contract extension with Trackhouse, ensuring his participation in MotoGP until 2028.
Despite these successes, the 25-year-old believes his lack of experience compared to established competitors like Martin, Marco Bezzecchi, and Marc Marquez hinders his title aspirations. He acknowledges his recent form but remains cautious about his competitiveness in the upcoming Aragon GP, especially with teammate Ai Ogura sidelined due to injury.
