Raul Fernandez Withdraws from Australian GP Due to Injury
Raul Fernandez has been ruled out of the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island, contributing to a reduced MotoGP grid of 18 riders for the race on Sunday.
Fernandez's absence follows that of Jorge Martin, who suffered a serious injury during the sprint race, and two riders from the Honda HRC team, Joan Mir and Luca Marini, who are also unable to compete due to illness and a virus, respectively.
Fernandez had previously sustained fractures to two fingers during the Indonesian Grand Prix and aggravated his injuries in a crash during Friday's practice session. After a medical assessment, he was declared unfit to race and will undergo further evaluation ahead of the Malaysian Grand Prix next weekend.
