Raven Chapman Reflects on Life-Saving Actions After Brain Injury
Boxer Raven Chapman recently discussed her experience with a brain bleed that occurred during a sparring session in Denmark on July 24. Following her collapse, trainer Stuart Scott quickly called for an ambulance, which led to her being airlifted to a hospital where she was placed in a medically induced coma.
Chapman was diagnosed with a brain haematoma and cerebral oedema after undergoing surgery to address the bleeding and swelling in her brain. An online fundraiser raised £97,792 to assist with her recovery, with significant contributions from her promoters and the boxing community.
Although Chapman has faced challenges in coming to terms with her situation, including the possibility of not returning to the ring, she has resumed training in a limited capacity. She expressed gratitude for the support she received and remains hopeful about contributing to the sport in other ways in the future.
