The Baltimore Ravens are reportedly looking to finalize a lucrative contract extension with quarterback Lamar Jackson before the start of the 2026 season. Currently, Jackson is under an existing contract that restricts the Ravens from trading him without his consent and prevents them from using the franchise tag after the 2027 season.
Former NFL player and analyst Domonique Foxworth recently highlighted Jackson's advantageous position in contract negotiations, noting that he possesses a no-trade and no-franchise-tag clause, along with a substantial cap hit exceeding $80 million. This situation grants Jackson considerable leverage, as he can choose to play out his contract or negotiate a new deal.
Reports suggest that Jackson could be in line for a fully guaranteed extension worth up to $275 million. However, he may opt to wait until 2027 to potentially reset the market for quarterbacks. Additionally, speculation has arisen regarding the New York Jets' interest in pairing Jackson with former Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, who may consider a return to coaching in 2027.
