Rays' Jonathan Aranda Finds Success with Advice from Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk
Jonathan Aranda, first baseman for the Tampa Bay Rays, sought advice from his childhood friend Alejandro Kirk, catcher for the Toronto Blue Jays, as the postseason began. Ahead of ALCS Game 5, Aranda shared that Kirk encouraged him to enjoy the game and be himself.
After struggling with no hits in his first 10 at-bats during the series against the Cleveland Guardians, Aranda rebounded in Game 4, achieving three hits, two RBIs, and scoring two runs in a 7-3 victory. He emphasized the strong bond with Kirk, noting they communicate daily and consider each other like brothers.
Last year, both players attended the All-Star Game together, but Aranda's season was cut short due to a wrist injury. Despite this setback, he supported Kirk during the Blue Jays' World Series run, which inspired him to visualize his own postseason success. Aranda aims to turn his aspirations into reality and contribute to the Rays' pursuit of a World Series title.
