Red Bull Addresses 'Silly' Issues Affecting Verstappen and Hadjar
Following the US Grand Prix, Red Bull Racing acknowledged ongoing technical difficulties affecting drivers Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar. Hadjar pointed out that while the team can tackle complex problems, they continue to struggle with simpler issues, particularly regarding radio communication and race starts.
Verstappen secured a podium finish, but team members expressed frustration over their inability to maximize performance during the race. Specific problems included strategic decisions regarding tire compounds and inconsistent power unit behavior. Hadjar noted that resolving the radio and start issues could significantly improve their results.
Team principal Laurent Mekies confirmed that the radio issues are unacceptable and should be resolved by the end of the year, while the start problem is more complex and may not be fully addressed until the 2027 season. Mekies emphasized that the start performance involves multiple components, including the engine and gearbox, and acknowledged that Red Bull is not currently the benchmark in this area.
