Red Bull Attributes Verstappen's US GP Struggles to Debris Damage
Red Bull Racing's CEO Laurent Mekies stated that debris encountered by Max Verstappen on lap 8 was responsible for his reduced pace during the United States Grand Prix. Following Verstappen's comments about the car's performance, Mekies clarified that the damage impacted the vehicle's balance and increased tire degradation.
Despite finishing third, Verstappen expressed dissatisfaction with the car's handling, while Mekies acknowledged that they lacked the speed to compete with race-winner Kimi Antonelli. Mekies also addressed issues faced by teammate Isack Hadjar, who struggled with a faulty clutch and communication problems that hindered his race strategy.
Despite the challenges, Red Bull Racing improved their position in the constructors' championship and noted that Verstappen is now only six points away from second place in the drivers' standings. Mekies emphasized the need to learn from this experience as they prepare for the upcoming race in Mexico.
