Red Bull Utilizes AI for Enhanced F1 Race Strategy
Red Bull Racing has introduced an AI-driven race strategy tool, created in collaboration with Oracle, to aid decision-making during Formula 1 races.
Jack Harington, Red Bull's head of technical and performance partnerships, detailed that the tool evolved from a regulatory search aid to an AI system that actively recommends actions during races. An example of its effectiveness was seen during the 2025 Italian Grand Prix, where the AI advised Max Verstappen to relinquish a position to avoid a penalty, a decision that ultimately led to his victory.
While Harington emphasized that Formula 1 remains a human-centric sport, he noted the AI's role in enhancing team performance. Other teams, including McLaren, Mercedes, and Ferrari, are also exploring AI technologies in their operations.
