Red Sox Acquire Outfielder Jahmai Jones from Tigers

The Boston Red Sox have announced the acquisition of outfielder Jahmai Jones from the Detroit Tigers. This move comes as the Tigers designated Jones for assignment last week, and in return, they will receive left-handed pitching prospect Jojo Ingrassia, who has a 3.27 ERA in his second season of high-A ball.

Jones, 28, previously demonstrated his potential with the Tigers last year, achieving a .287 batting average and a 159 wRC+ over 150 plate appearances. However, his performance has declined this season, with a .137 batting average across 105 plate appearances. The Red Sox aim to utilize Jones to enhance their right-handed batting options, especially given their lefty-heavy lineup.

With several players currently on the injured list, the Red Sox are looking to bolster their roster. Jones's acquisition is part of their strategy to improve offensive production, although his out-of-options status may limit his time with the team if he does not perform well.
