Red Sox Activate Roman Anthony and Trevor Story Ahead of Yankees Game
The Boston Red Sox have activated outfielder Roman Anthony and infielder Trevor Story from the 60-day injured list on Sunday, just before their final game of a four-game series against the New York Yankees.
In a corresponding move, the team sent Anthony Seigler and Mickey Gasper to triple-A. Anthony had been sidelined since May 4 due to a partially torn tendon in his right ring finger, and he had a challenging start to the season with a .675 OPS and one home run over his first 30 games. However, he showed improvement during his rehabilitation, hitting two home runs and achieving a 1.023 OPS in seven rehab games.
Story, who has been out since May 14 with a sports hernia, also faced difficulties earlier in the season, recording three home runs and a .547 OPS in 41 games. Despite these injuries, the Red Sox have performed well, rebounding from a rough start and achieving a remarkable 32-5 record, including a franchise-record-tying 15-game winning streak, putting them back in contention for the postseason.
