Red Sox Activate Roman Anthony and Trevor Story from Injured List

The Boston Red Sox have welcomed back outfielder Roman Anthony and shortstop Trevor Story from the injured list, as reported by Tim Healey of the Boston Globe. Both players have been activated off the 60-day IL, allowing the team to fill two open spots on its 40-man roster.

Anthony has been sidelined since early May due to a right wrist sprain. Prior to his injury, he recorded a below-average 95 wRC+ in 130 plate appearances, but he had a strong performance last season with a 141 wRC+. The Red Sox are hopeful that Anthony can return to form, especially with Masataka Yoshida currently out due to a hamstring strain.

In contrast, Story has struggled this season, batting .206 with a wRC+ of 48 over 176 plate appearances. After undergoing surgery for a sports hernia in May, he returns to a lineup where he has faced challenges both offensively and defensively. His activation comes as the team navigates roster adjustments, including sending Mickey Gasper and Anthony Seigler back to Triple-A Worcester.
