Rutschman, a former first overall pick, is currently sidelined due to a left wrist issue, which is a significant factor in the negotiations. Orioles president of baseball operations Mike Elias indicated that the team is open to trade discussions involving Rutschman, especially as they are 2.5 games behind in the Wild Card race and have not performed as expected, sitting four games below .500.
