Red Sox Call Up Jedixson Paez, Designate Brett Harris for Assignment

The Boston Red Sox announced the promotion of right-handed pitcher Jedixson Paez from Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday. Paez is set to make his debut in tonight's game, while infielder Brett Harris has been designated for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man roster.

Paez, 22, originally signed from Venezuela in 2021, had a brief stint with the Chicago White Sox earlier this season after being selected in the Rule 5 Draft. After being returned to the Red Sox, he excelled in the minor leagues, posting a 4.11 ERA and a 30.8% strikeout rate over 61 1/3 innings. Recently, he has shown improved performance with a 3.24 ERA and a 25-to-2 strikeout-to-walk ratio in his last 16 2/3 innings.

In addition to Paez's promotion, the Red Sox reinstated utility player Isiah Kiner-Falefa from the 60-day injured list. To accommodate these changes, left-handed pitcher Eduardo Rivera was recalled and placed on the major league 60-day injured list.
