Red Sox Complete Trade for Jahmai Jones by Sending Jojo Ingrassia to Tigers

On July 14, the Boston Red Sox acquired outfielder Jahmai Jones from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for a player to be named later. The trade was officially completed recently when the Red Sox sent pitching prospect Jojo Ingrassia to the Tigers.

Ingrassia, who is ranked as Boston's No. 30 prospect by MLB Pipeline, is a 24-year-old left-hander. He had a successful season at High-A Greenville, achieving a 3.27 ERA with 59 strikeouts over 44 innings. His performance placed him among the top pitchers in the South Atlantic League in several statistical categories.

Originally drafted by the Red Sox in 2023, Ingrassia has faced some injury challenges but has shown promise when healthy. He will report to the Tigers’ High-A affiliate in West Michigan, where he aims for a promotion to Double-A Erie. Ingrassia could become Rule 5-eligible this winter if he is not added to Detroit’s 40-man roster.
