Ward recently achieved his 60-steal milestone while playing for Triple-A Worcester, where he has been a consistent base-stealer throughout his minor league career. He has a batting average of .238 with five home runs this season.

With the Red Sox likely securing the #5 seed in the American League, they are preparing for a Wild Card Series. The team can carry additional position players, especially since Eli White, who was expected to fill a similar role, is sidelined due to injury. Ward, although not on the 40-man roster, could be eligible for postseason play as an injury replacement.
