Sonny Gray contributed significantly by pitching six scoreless innings, allowing only three hits and two walks while striking out eight batters. The Red Sox's bullpen, consisting of Tyron Guerrero, Garrett Whitlock, and Jovani Moran, maintained the shutout, with Moran striking out three batters in the ninth after allowing a leadoff walk.

Abreu's solo home run in the third inning was a highlight, and Jarren Duran also had a notable game, going 2-for-3 with a double and a run. The Red Sox improved their record to 30-5 since June 25. Chicago's Sean Burke took the loss, allowing two runs over 4 2/3 innings. Willson Contreras exited the game in the fifth due to illness.
