Red Sox Option Young Pitcher Jedixson Paez to Triple-A

The Boston Red Sox have reassigned 22-year-old right-handed pitcher Jedixson Paez to Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday, just one day after his difficult first start with the team.

In a corresponding move, the Red Sox recalled left-hander Raymond Burgos from Worcester to strengthen their bullpen. Paez's major league debut was marked by a performance where he allowed eight earned runs over 3 2/3 innings against Seattle, resulting in a 9-6 loss for Boston.

Paez, who hails from Venezuela, was initially selected from Worcester to provide relief for veteran pitcher Sonny Gray. Despite a promising track record in the minors, his outing did not meet expectations. The Red Sox, currently third in the AL East with a record of 75-64, are managing a rotation impacted by injuries, necessitating the use of younger pitchers like Paez.
