Red Sox Place Eduardo Rivera on Restricted List

Prior to this, Rivera was on optional assignment with Triple-A Worcester and had been placed on the seven-day minor league injured list on August 13 due to back inflammation. His personal absence is not expected to affect his recovery timeline unless it extends significantly.

With Rivera on the restricted list, the Red Sox now have an additional roster spot available, although they were already utilizing only 38 of their 40-man roster spots. This temporary opening may allow for roster adjustments, particularly if the team decides to make multiple waiver claims or call up non-roster players before Rivera's return.
