Red Sox Place Eli White on Injured List, Update on Curtis Mead and Garrett Crochet
The Boston Red Sox have placed outfielder Eli White on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to September 9, due to a ligament injury in his right foot sustained after colliding with the center field wall at Fenway Park. In a corresponding move, infielder Anthony Siegler has been called up from Triple-A.
White is currently on crutches and in a boot, and the team is awaiting further medical opinions to assess the severity of his injury, making his return before the regular season's end unlikely. Since joining the Red Sox from the Braves, White has recorded a batting average of .276 over 60 plate appearances.
In addition, infielder Curtis Mead, who suffered a fractured wrist in his first game with the team, is optimistic about being ready for the playoffs. He has begun defensive drills and is working on his range of motion. Meanwhile, Garrett Crochet is progressing in his rehabilitation, having completed a bullpen session at Fenway Park, although he may not have the opportunity for a minor league appearance before the postseason.
