Red Sox Place Yoshida and Slaten on Injured List

The Boston Red Sox have announced the placement of designated hitter Masataka Yoshida on the 10-day injured list due to a hamstring injury and right-hander Justin Slaten on the 15-day IL because of an elbow issue.

Slaten's IL placement is retroactive to Thursday. In response to these injuries, the team has recalled catcher Mickey Gasper and left-hander Raymond Burgos from Triple-A Worcester. Additionally, veteran shortstop Trevor Story has begun a rehab assignment in Triple-A as he recovers from a sports hernia that sidelined him for 41 games.

Yoshida sustained his injury while running to second base during a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday. He is set to undergo testing upon the team's return home. This season, Yoshida has a batting average of .274 with five home runs and 28 RBIs in 87 games. Slaten, in his third season with the Red Sox, has a record of 2-4 and a 4.60 ERA over 36 relief appearances.
