Red Sox Reactivate Willson Contreras from Injured List
The Boston Red Sox have reinstated first baseman Willson Contreras from the 10-day injured list before their home game against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.
Contreras was included in the starting lineup, playing first base and batting fourth, as the team aimed to win the three-game series and maintain their position in the American League wild-card race. He had been placed on the injured list on August 31 due to a hamstring strain that had affected his performance for much of the month.
Contreras, who leads the team with 26 home runs and 79 RBIs while batting .274, participated in two minor league rehab games for Double-A Portland, achieving two hits and two RBIs in seven at-bats. To accommodate his return, infielder Anthony Seigler was placed on the 10-day injured list due to right wrist inflammation.
