The Ottawa Redblacks, currently winless, face significant challenges in finding a consistent quarterback as they prepare for the remainder of the season.

Jim Popp, newly appointed senior adviser for the Ottawa Redblacks, addressed the team's ongoing quarterback issues during his first media meeting. The Redblacks have struggled since 2019, cycling through 13 starting quarterbacks and currently holding a record of 0-10 this season.

The team's challenges include a weak offensive line and a defense ranked as the worst in the league. Popp noted that most quarterbacks require time to develop, which has been a significant hurdle for the Redblacks, particularly since losing Trevor Harris before the 2019 season.

Current starter Jake Maier has faced difficulties, holding a career record of 19-37-1, while backup Bethel-Thompson and third-stringer Bryson Barnes have also struggled. The Redblacks must find a reliable quarterback to improve their performance, with limited options available in the CFL.
