Reds Acquire Ron Marinaccio and Chase Solesky from Waivers
The Cincinnati Reds have claimed right-handed pitchers Ron Marinaccio and Chase Solesky off waivers from the Pirates and Rays, respectively. Solesky has been assigned to Triple-A Louisville following the transaction.
Both pitchers were recently designated for assignment. Cincinnati had an open spot on its 40-man roster, which was created by transferring outfielder Blake Dunn to the 60-day injured list due to a season-ending surgery.
Marinaccio, 31, has struggled this season, posting a 4.99 ERA over 52 1/3 innings after previously having a solid track record. He will join the Reds' bullpen, while Solesky, 28, who made his major league debut earlier this year, has spent most of the season in Triple-A with a 6.79 ERA. The Reds are currently dealing with injuries in their rotation, making these acquisitions timely.
