Reds Release Sam Haggerty and Sign Kent Emanuel

The Cincinnati Reds have announced the release of utility player Sam Haggerty, as confirmed by MLB.com’s transaction tracker. Haggerty had been playing with the Reds' Triple-A affiliate in Louisville.

Previously a member of the Mets and Mariners, Haggerty faced challenges in recent seasons, including an Achilles injury in 2024. After a brief stint with the Rangers, where he recorded a batting average of .253 over 64 games, he was released following a slump in performance. With the Reds, he struggled further, hitting .205 with one home run in 99 at-bats.

In a related move, the Reds have signed 34-year-old left-handed pitcher Kent Emanuel to a minor league contract. Emanuel, who has not been with an MLB organization since 2024, previously played in the Mexican League and the Atlantic League. He has a career ERA of 4.58 in the majors and a 5.21 ERA in Triple-A.
