Reds Sign Orlando Arcia to Minor League Contract

The Cincinnati Reds have signed Orlando Arcia, a veteran infielder, to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Louisville.

This move comes as Elly De La Cruz deals with a minor quadriceps strain, prompting the Reds to seek additional infield depth. Arcia recently played three games in the Mexican League and has prior major league experience, having appeared in 19 games for the Twins earlier this year, where he recorded a .271 batting average and one home run.

At 32 years old, Arcia has a history as a league-average starting shortstop and can play multiple infield positions. His performance has varied, with a notable decline in power production in recent seasons. The Reds are looking to bolster their roster as they approach the end of the season.
