Reds Suffer Heartbreaking Loss After Outfielder's Error
The Cincinnati Reds experienced a devastating loss against the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday, falling 10-9 after a critical error by center fielder Dane Myers in the ninth inning.
With the Reds leading 5-4 and two outs, Myers misplayed a fly ball hit by Cardinals shortstop J.J. Wetherholt. The ball deflected off his glove, allowing the Cardinals to score two runs and take the lead. Following this, the Cardinals added four more runs in the ninth before the Reds managed to score four runs in response.
Despite their efforts, Cincinnati's comeback was thwarted when Matt McLain's line drive was caught by Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker, ending the game. This loss leaves the Reds with a 61-67 record, placing them seven games behind in the race for the National League wild-card spot.
