Reinier de Ridder Exits UFC Middleweight Division After Tough Weight Cut
Reinier de Ridder has announced his departure from the UFC middleweight division after experiencing a difficult weight cut prior to his fight against Caio Borralho in March.
The former two-division One Championship titleholder revealed that the weight cut was so challenging that he vowed never to compete at 185 pounds again during that week, which he described as the worst of his career. De Ridder suffered a unanimous decision loss to Borralho, marking his second consecutive defeat in the middleweight category.
Following this experience, de Ridder moved up to the light heavyweight division and achieved a first-round stoppage victory against Roman Dolidze at UFC Sacramento, confirming his decision to compete full-time at 205 pounds.
