Residents Express Concerns Over Declining Conditions in Woodchurch Estate
Residents of the Woodchurch Estate in Wirral have voiced their concerns about the deteriorating conditions in their community, citing issues such as litter, broken streetlights, and overflowing bins. They describe the area as being neglected and in decline.
The estate has gained attention following the murder of Elle Edwards in December 2022, which was linked to gang violence in the region. Long-time resident Lenny Fowler expressed his dismay at the state of the estate, while neighbor Simon Johnson dedicates hours daily to cleaning up litter.
Despite these challenges, Woodchurch has been selected to receive funding as part of the government's Pride in Place programme, aimed at revitalizing neighborhoods. Local MP Matthew Patrick emphasized his commitment to improving the area and addressing residents' needs.
