Review of the Redesigned Apidura Expedition Series
Apidura has launched a redesigned version of its Expedition Series bikepacking bags, which were first introduced in 2016. The new series features an updated mounting system and new materials aimed at enhancing performance and waterproofing.
The latest models address previous shortcomings, including the Handlebar Pack's insecure mounting, the Saddle Pack's tendency to sway, and the Frame Pack's bulging under load. The new design includes a streamlined look with fewer visible straps and integrated mounts for GPS and lights.
Testing revealed that while the bags perform well in various conditions, the Saddle Pack has issues with waterproofing, allowing some water ingress through air valves. Apidura is investigating this problem. Overall, the Expedition Series is designed for long-distance bikepacking, offering a robust system for serious adventurers.
