Rhys Carre and Courtney Keight Honored as Players of the Year

Rhys Carre and Courtney Keight have been recognized as the top players of the year by the Welsh Rugby Writers' Association (WRWA). Carre, who plays for Saracens, and Keight from Sale received the men's and women's player of the season awards, respectively, following notable performances despite challenging seasons for their national teams.

Carre, aged 28, became the first prop to win the WRWA men's trophy since 2009. He played in 11 of Wales' 12 Tests during the 2025-26 season, scoring three tries in consecutive matches during the 2026 Six Nations. His standout moment included a solo try against Ireland, which was awarded the try of the Championship.

Courtney Keight, 28, has made significant strides in her rugby career, establishing herself as a key player in Wales' midfield. She played three matches at the 2025 World Cup and was a consistent presence during the Six Nations. Keight is set to transition to the outside centre position for the upcoming WXV opener against South Africa.
