Rich Paul Discusses Peyton Watson's Absence from Playoffs
Rich Paul, CEO of Klutch Sports, addressed Peyton Watson's absence from the playoffs during a recent podcast episode. He revealed that he advised Watson against playing while recovering from a strained left hamstring.
Watson, who was having a standout season, suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain in February, which kept him out for over six weeks. After returning, he had limited playtime in five games before being sidelined again in early April and did not participate in the playoffs, despite some belief within the Nuggets organization that he could have played.
This absence may have impacted the Nuggets' decision not to meet Watson's contract demands of around $25 million per season. The team offered him $70 million over four years, significantly less than the extension given to teammate Christian Braun. However, Watson's situation improved when he was traded to the Cavaliers in a five-team deal, securing a four-year contract worth $88 million, which includes a player option for the final season.
