Richard Boswell Emphasizes Need for Improvement at Richard Childress Racing
Richard Boswell, crew chief for the No. 3 team at Richard Childress Racing, addressed the team's performance ahead of the last 13 races of the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season. He noted that the team has not achieved the desired number of top-10 finishes, which has left them in 27th place in points and out of contention for the Chase.
Boswell highlighted that while the team qualifies well, often in the top 15 or 20, they struggle with race execution, resulting in fewer top finishes. The No. 3 team has recorded no top-five finishes this season and has experienced more DNFs than top-10 finishes.
Looking ahead, Boswell stressed the importance of improving all aspects of their program, including car builds and team accountability. As they prepare for the upcoming race at Richmond, where they are the defending champions, a victory could significantly boost morale at the RCR shop in Welcome, North Carolina.
