Richard Capstick Faces Extended Absence Due to Shoulder Injury
Exeter forward Richard Capstick may miss much of the current season due to a recurring shoulder injury that has sidelined him since February. The 26-year-old previously missed the start of last season because of a knee issue.
Capstick underwent shoulder surgery earlier this year after having played in a Prem Rugby Cup victory over Gloucester. He has been a valuable player for Exeter, contributing in both the back row and second row, and was part of the England 'A' squad last season.
Exeter's director of rugby, Rob Baxter, noted that the failure of Capstick's last operation complicates his recovery options. In the meantime, Exeter has signed Welsh forward Carwyn Tuipulotu to bolster their squad during Capstick's absence. Capstick has had a challenging injury history, with only one injury-free season in the last four years.
