Rights Group Calls for FIFA to Block Infantino's Reelection Bid

FairSquare, a human rights organization, has called on FIFA to declare Gianni Infantino ineligible for reelection as president, claiming he has already reached the maximum of three terms allowed by FIFA's regulations.

Infantino, who was elected in 2016 after Sepp Blatter's resignation, previously argued that his first term should not count towards this limit, as it completed an interrupted mandate. This argument was accepted by FIFA in 2022.

FIFA's statutes clearly state that presidents are limited to three terms in office, raising questions about Infantino's eligibility for another term.
