Rishabh Pant Becomes India's Leading WTC Run-Scorer

Rishabh Pant achieved a significant milestone on Monday by surpassing Shubman Gill to become India's leading run-scorer in ICC World Test Championship history. This accomplishment occurred during the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo, where Pant was unbeaten on 63 at lunch on the second day, contributing to India's total of 419/6.

Pant's total now stands at 2,948 runs from 42 Tests, while Gill has 2,917 runs from the same number of matches. Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Virat Kohli follow in the rankings among Indian batters. Pant's achievement was bolstered by a crucial partnership with Dhruv Jurel, who also reached his half-century, as they added an unbeaten 112 runs for the seventh wicket.

In addition to this record, Pant also became India's highest run-scorer as a designated wicketkeeper in away or neutral Tests, surpassing MS Dhoni's previous record of 2,496 runs. Despite an injury scare on the first day, Pant returned to the game and helped India secure a commanding position in the match.
