Rishabh Pant Retires Hurt in 2nd Test Against Sri Lanka
Rishabh Pant, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter, retired hurt on August 23, 2026, after being struck on his left arm during the first day of the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
Pant was batting in the third session when he faced a short ball from Sri Lanka's Lahiru Kumara, which he attempted to pull but missed, resulting in the ball hitting his arm. He was visibly in pain and received treatment from the team physiotherapist, who applied an ice pack and taped his arm. Despite the treatment, Pant left the field in the 58th over after scoring three runs off 15 balls.
Following Pant's departure, Ravindra Jadeja entered the game to join Devdutt Padikkal at the crease.
