The Dallas Mavericks have turned down trade inquiries regarding Kyrie Irving this offseason, yet rival teams are still observing the situation closely. They are particularly interested in whether the Mavericks will alter their position before the upcoming trade deadline in February.

Irving, who is 34 years old, is significantly older than the Mavericks' franchise player, Cooper Flagg, who will soon turn 20. This age difference raises doubts among teams about Irving's long-term fit with Dallas. Although the Mavericks' new executives have shown excitement about Irving's potential partnership with Flagg, the two players are not aligned in their career timelines.

Additionally, Irving's previous coaching staff has been entirely replaced, which contributes to the speculation surrounding his future. His former coach, Jason Kidd, and assistant God Shammgod have both left the team, with Shammgod joining the Magic and Kidd being succeeded by Dusty May. Phil Handy, the last remaining assistant from Kidd's staff, has also departed for a position with the Philadelphia 76ers.
