Robert Wickens Makes IMSA Endurance Debut with DXDT Racing at Road America
Robert Wickens is set to make his IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTD class endurance debut this weekend at Road America, joining DXDT Racing's Corvette line-up. Wickens received a last-minute call on Wednesday to replace Salih Yoluc in the No. 36 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, sharing the car with Mason Filippi and Charlie Eastwood.
This appearance marks Wickens' first endurance race since the 2017 Rolex 24 at Daytona. Although he had initially aimed for a full-season campaign, funding issues delayed those plans. His recent sprint campaign faced interruptions, including a transporter fire that forced DXDT to withdraw from a race.
Despite limited preparation time, Wickens remains optimistic about the challenge ahead. He has experience in endurance racing, having previously completed long stints in various competitions. Filippi qualified the Corvette ninth in class, and Wickens believes the team's strong driver lineup positions them well for success.
