Rocco Baldelli Exits Mariners' Managerial Search

Rocco Baldelli has stepped back from the Seattle Mariners' search for a new manager, citing family considerations. This decision leaves Joe Espada and Jason Kanzler as the remaining known candidates for the position.

The Mariners are reportedly in an advanced stage of the hiring process. Baldelli's withdrawal may impact the timeline if he was a preferred choice, as the team has been seeking a replacement since the announcement that former manager Dan Wilson would not return in 2027.

President of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto has indicated a preference for hiring an experienced manager. Espada, a former Astros manager, may have an advantage over Kanzler, who has worked with Espada in the past. Baldelli previously managed the Twins, achieving three AL Central titles before his departure after a disappointing 2025 season.
