Rockies Call Up Nick Frasso to Active Roster
The Colorado Rockies have promoted right-handed pitcher Nick Frasso from Triple-A to address roster gaps resulting from three trades made at the deadline. Frasso is set to make his Major League debut when he takes the field.
Frasso, 27, joined the Rockies two weeks ago as part of a trade that sent Seth Halvorsen to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He began his professional career with the Toronto Blue Jays and was traded to the Dodgers in 2022. After being recognized as a top-100 prospect, his progress was hindered by shoulder surgery that sidelined him for the entire 2024 season, followed by additional injuries in 2025, leading to a total of 107 1/3 innings pitched over the last two years.
This season, Frasso has shown significant strikeout potential with a 35.3% strikeout rate over 30 1/3 innings in Triple-A, although he has also recorded a 13.2% walk rate and a 4.15 ERA, which is not unusual for the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. Transitioning to a full-time relief role, his fastball velocity has increased from 94.6 mph in 2025 to 96.3 mph this year. With the Rockies needing additional bullpen support, Frasso has a chance to prove himself as a Major League pitcher and secure a spot in next year’s bullpen.
