Rockies Make Roster Changes by Outrighting Four Players
The Colorado Rockies have announced the removal of four players from their 40-man roster: infielder Chad Stevens and right-handed pitchers Blake Adams, Eiberson Castellano, and TJ Shook. All four players have cleared outright waivers, with Stevens, Castellano, and Shook opting for free agency, while Adams has been assigned to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Blake Adams, 26, remains within the organization and may receive a non-roster invitation to Spring Training. He was drafted in 2022 and made his MLB debut on August 24, where he faced challenges, allowing five runs in one inning against the Nationals. His minor league performance this year included a 6.29 ERA and a 16.5% strikeout rate.
TJ Shook, who joined the Rockies through last year's Rule 5 draft, made five MLB appearances this season, giving up seven runs over 7 2/3 innings but had a solid 3.45 ERA in the minors. Eiberson Castellano debuted in June, recording a save in his only major league appearance, while Chad Stevens, a depth infielder, struggled offensively in his limited time with the team.
