Roger Federer Inducted into Tennis Hall of Fame Amid Emotional Speech

Roger Federer delivered an emotional induction speech at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, R.I., on Saturday, where he was visibly moved multiple times.

As he took the stage, dressed in a tan suit, Federer embraced his wife, Mirka, who introduced him. He acknowledged the challenge of following her heartfelt presentation. During his nearly 30-minute speech, he expressed his gratitude to his childhood hero, Stefan Edberg, and his longtime coach, Severin Luthi, which brought him to tears.

Federer, who celebrated his 45th birthday three weeks prior, reflected on his illustrious career, which includes 20 Grand Slam singles titles. He encouraged future players to elevate the game and expressed his joy at being part of tennis history. Alongside him, Mary Carillo was also inducted, recognized for her contributions to sports journalism.
