Roger Goodell Confident in Security for NFL's Paris Game
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell stated on Wednesday that he feels confident about the safety of the New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers as they prepare to play in Paris on Sunday. This assurance comes despite the possibility of civil unrest and protests occurring in the city and across France this weekend.
During the annual fall owners meeting, Goodell mentioned that he has been in contact with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and that communication with French authorities is ongoing. He noted that preparations have been made to ensure the teams' safety, acknowledging that protests are common in France.
Saints general manager Mickey Loomis indicated that the team's plans remain unaffected, as they arrived in France on Monday after their game against the Giants. The Steelers are scheduled to travel on Thursday night. Players, including New Orleans safety Justin Reed, have expressed that they are not concerned about the situation.
