Roman Anthony Remains in Minor League Rehab Ahead of Yankees Series

Boston Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony will not return to the lineup for the upcoming series against the New York Yankees, as he was seen at Polar Park, home of Triple-A Worcester, instead of traveling with the major league team.

Anthony has been sidelined since May 5 due to a partially torn ligament in his right ring finger. Initially, there was hope he might return to provide a boost to the lineup, but his presence in Worcester has diminished those expectations, disappointing fans who have closely followed his recovery.

In addition to Anthony, the Red Sox are managing the rehabilitation of shortstop Trevor Story and utility infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa, both of whom are also recovering from injuries. All three players could potentially be activated around September 1, but this will require corresponding roster adjustments. Anthony's return may align with a homestand against the Seattle Mariners starting August 31, allowing for additional rehab games. The Yankees series is crucial for postseason positioning, with both teams vying for Wild Card spots.
