Roman Shogdzhiev Earns Second GM Norm at Serbian Super League
Roman Shogdzhiev, an 11-year-old chess prodigy, has achieved his second grandmaster norm while competing for Partizan Belgrade in the Serbian Super League. His performance included a score of 6 points from 9 games, featuring four wins, four draws, and one loss.
During the tournament, Shogdzhiev faced strong opponents, including three grandmasters rated above 2600, and achieved a tournament performance rating of 2662, gaining 26.1 rating points. He did not participate in the final two rounds of the event.
This accomplishment follows his first GM norm earned at the Asian Individual Championship in June, where he also scored 6/9 points. Shogdzhiev is now on track to potentially become the youngest grandmaster in chess history, needing one more norm and to reach a rating of 2500 before his 12th birthday in February 2027.
