Ron Marinaccio Chooses Free Agency After Waivers
Ron Marinaccio, a former reliever for the Cincinnati Reds, has cleared outright waivers and decided to elect free agency. This decision comes after a brief period with the Reds, where he was claimed off waivers shortly after the trade deadline.
During his two weeks with Cincinnati, Marinaccio struggled significantly, allowing 10 runs in just 5 1/3 innings. He has been designated for assignment three times this year and has now successfully passed through waivers for the first time. Having crossed the three-year service threshold this summer, he is eligible for free agency without leaving behind any guaranteed salary.
Marinaccio has pitched a total of 57 2/3 innings across his time with the Padres, Pirates, and Reds, currently holding a career-high earned run average of 6.09. His recent performance has been challenging, with 25 runs allowed in his last 26 2/3 innings. Meanwhile, the Reds have also signed right-hander Darius Vines, who has shown strong performance in the Mexican League.
