Ronald Araujo Joins Liverpool on Season-Long Loan from Barcelona
Ronald Araujo, the captain of Barcelona, has officially joined Liverpool on a season-long loan for the 2026-27 season. The 27-year-old defender expressed that this transfer is the ideal decision for him at this stage of his career.
Araujo agreed to a pay cut to facilitate the move, which includes an option for Liverpool to purchase him permanently for a fee of approximately £47 million ($63 million) if his performance meets expectations. Liverpool confirmed that the deal is contingent upon a successful work permit application and international clearance.
Having made over 200 appearances for Barcelona, Araujo brings significant experience to Liverpool, where he is expected to enhance the team's defensive options. His arrival follows the departure of Ibrahima Konate and ongoing injury issues within the squad. Araujo is anticipated to begin training with his new teammates shortly.
