Ronny Hernandez Shines in First Season with Red Sox
Ronny Hernandez, a catching and first base prospect for the Red Sox, has emerged as a notable player in his first season, despite participating in only 67 games.
Acquired from the White Sox last November, Hernandez significantly increased his home run tally while playing for High-A Greenville. After recovering from a right quadriceps strain, he debuted on May 5, achieving a remarkable 4-for-4 performance with two home runs in his first game.
Throughout the season, Hernandez maintained a batting average of .304, hitting 15 home runs and driving in 45 runs. He also demonstrated solid defensive skills, splitting time between catcher and first base. Originally signed by the White Sox as an international free agent, Hernandez's future with the Red Sox remains uncertain as he approaches Rule-5 eligibility this winter.
