Rory McIlroy Addresses Swing Issues After Recent Performance

Rory McIlroy, currently ranked World No. 2, has acknowledged difficulties with his swing, which he attributes to a three-week period of holding a wine glass. Following a disappointing performance at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, McIlroy sought guidance from his coach, Michael Bannon.

After taking a break post-Open Championship to spend time with family, McIlroy returned to the game and noticed the impact on his performance. He and Bannon developed a new range work strategy, incorporating a Flat Cat putting grip, which McIlroy believes has improved his swing mechanics.

As he heads into the final round at Bellerive, McIlroy is tied for second place, five strokes behind leader Wyndham Clark. Despite the challenges, he remains optimistic about his position on the leaderboard and acknowledges the need for a strong performance to catch up.
