Rory McIlroy Discusses PGA Tour Changes and European Tour Opportunities

Rory McIlroy recently addressed the media at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, discussing the future of the PGA Tour and potential changes for the DP World Tour. Although no longer part of any PGA Tour player committees, McIlroy remains vocal about the sport's direction.

During his press conference, McIlroy praised PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp's announcement of a revamped Tour Championship format set to debut in 2028, which will include two weeks of match play. The first week will feature 32 golfers in head-to-head matches, with the top players advancing to a bracket in the second week.

McIlroy expressed his ongoing communication with Rolapp, indicating he is informally advising on DP World Tour matters. He suggested that the European tour could capitalize on the five months when the PGA Tour is inactive, potentially attracting more players to dual membership and enhancing international golf events.
